Garcia Hunter was a student at Glasgow School of Art from 1923-1927. Following graduation, she spent two years working in advertising in London before setting up her own studio at 65 West Regent Street in the 1930s. Following her marriage in 1941 and the birth of her daughter in 1944, she took a break from her career. In 1947, Hunter returned to work, working from a studio in her own home.
